Grids (and grid-like structures) are called "Reticula" in the world of Zentangle and they form the basis of many tiles. Once you've laid down a reticula on your tile, all that is needed is to fill each space with a Fragment. Understanding the concept of Reticula and Fragments unlocks limitless options for drawing tiles! When the same fragment is filled in to each space of a reticula, you'll be amazed at the meta patterns that emerge. Reticula and Fragment tiles are among the easiest to draw.... and the most impressive to look at.
We'll discuss symmetry in fragments and I'll share with you my technique for grouping fragments into "families" to better predict which fragments will look good together when used in a tile. If you've been feeling confused or overwhelmed by the concept of Reticula and Fragments, you'll leave this class with confidence and a new inspiration to use them for maximum creative flow and stunning tiles.
This is a two hour class, suitable for intermediate tanglers.
