Zendala Mania

Surprisingly I haven't drawn that many Zandalas up until recently.  So when I decided to teach a beginner Zendala pattern in a class I'm currently running at the Lakeville Area Art Center, I definitely needed some practice!

I used the Markus Operandus template from zentangle.com and it was a huge help in dividing up the Zendala tile into regular segments.  This is available as a free download for anyone interested.

It took several tries before I was satisfied that I had a string that was simple enough to set up for a new tangler and yet gave enough interest for a truly cool tile.  I had a lot of fun practicing and thought you might enjoy seeing where we ended up!  The first tile in the series below is the one we drew together in class.  Click any image for a larger view.
